class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>L\u2019Union du Fleuve Mano (UFM) a \u00e9t\u00e9 cr\u00e9\u00e9e en 1973 par le Liberia et la Sierre Leone. L\u2019objectif visait \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer le vie des populations dans la r\u00e9gion gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 de meilleurs \u00e9changes commerciaux, des communaut\u00e9s plus solides et une riche culture. L\u2019union porte le nom du fleuve Mano qui coule entre le Liberia et la Sierre Leone.<\/p><p>En 1980, la Guin\u00e9e a rejoint l\u2019UFM. Les trois pays ont collabor\u00e9 pour d\u00e9velopper leurs \u00e9conomies et s\u2019aider les uns les autres.<\/p><p>Toutefois, les guerres au Liberia et en Sierre Leone de 1991 \u00e0 2003 ont arr\u00eat\u00e9 le travail de l\u2019UFM. Beaucoup de personnes avaient quitt\u00e9 leur emploi et l\u2019union s\u2019est tr\u00e8s affaiblie.<\/p><p>En 2004, les dirigeants des trois pays ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 de relancer l\u2019UFM. En 2008, la C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire s\u2019est jointe \u00e0 eux. Les quatre pays ont en commun des fronti\u00e8res, une histoire, des traditions et des populations She has played a pivotal role in numerous multi-million-dollar infrastructure projects that have contributed significantly to Sierra Leone\u2019s socio-economic development.\nEarly Life and Education\nAma's passion for development and public service stems from her upbringing in Sierra Leone, where she witnessed firsthand the challenges her country faced. She pursued higher education at Njala University, obtaining her first and second degree. Recognizing the importance of global perspectives in development work, she earned a World Bank scholarship to further her education in International Development Management from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.\nCareer Beginnings\nAma\u2019s career began in 1999, working with Children Associated with War (CAW), a program under the Catholic Mission in Sierra Leone, where she supported the protection of vulnerable children affected by the civil war. Her role as a Data Collection Assistant involved coordinating interventions under the guidance of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR). This formative experience shaped her commitment to creating sustainable solutions for her country.\nIn 2002, she joined the United Nations-backed Special Court for Sierra Leone, becoming the very first national staff member recruited to support and establish the Special Court in Sierra Leone. This experience was a springboard to her passion for international relations and development. \nTransition to International Development Management\nAma\u2019s transition into international development and infrastructure began in 2004, when she joined UKAID\u2019s Department for International Development (DFID). Over six years, she held various roles, including Programme Officer and Assistant Programme Manager where she worked on key development programs for the Governments of Sierra Leone and Liberia. Her work involved planning, designing, managing and overseeing infrastructure and human development projects, while also collaborating with other international partners to contribute to economic growth and development in Sierra Leone.\nPublic Service &amp; National Development\nFollowing her dedicated service to international development partners, she joined the Government of Sierra Leone public service in 2012, as a Program Development Specialist in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Unit in the Office of the President. Over the past decade, she has led and managed major infrastructure projects and supported the socio-economic development of Sierra Leone. Her expertise in Public Private Partnership arrangements has enabled her to work effectively with private partners and international donors such as the UNDP, World Bank, African Development Bank and other development partners. In July 2024, His Excellency, President Brig. (Rtd) Julius Maada Bio appointed Ama Gborie Foday to represent the Government of Sierra Leone in the Mano River Union as Deputy Secretary General. \nProfessional Certifications and Global Expertise\nThroughout her career, Ama has continually sought to enhance her knowledge and skills.
